Khoon baha or
Diyat (Ransom, Blood Money) is the Islamic law that is financial compensation
paid to the victim or heirs of a victim in the cases of murder, bodily harm or
property damage. It is equal to Qisas (murder against murder and eye for
an eye).
Women and girls, even infants, are given away in
marriage as compensation for crimes committed by their menfolk in Jirga system
on the name of Khoon baha, Mayar, Vanni and Sang Chatti.
Daughters and sisters are given away to resolve conflicts and prevent further
bloodshed which are against the spirit of Islamic Diyat law where the criminal goes free, and an innocent girl pays the price.
Girls given in marriage as a form of dispute
resolution are misbehaved badly from their in-laws and treat as a slave. They
